About Us

At TheatREPublic we are looking to change theatre so that it works for everyone. We want to make theatre more accessible for students, audiences and performers alike.

Through our holistic approach we are reconsidering the theatre landscape entirely, fusing together innovations from throughout theatre history to build a theatre for the future.

We are very excited about our plans to launch later this year and are looking for agitators and people with a passion for making theatre affordable, accessible and sustainable for years to come.

So join the journey, and help us to reimagine a people's theatre that's truly for the people!

What's behind the name?

Youth Engagement and Training
Sustainable Careers

Through our Repertory model, our team are employed full time, not on a show by show basis. Our Ensemble spend half their time creating and performing new theatre and half their time teaching. With our five step model we aim to take students from trainee to Creative Director within 10 years.

Theatre MUST be for everyone. In our digital age there has never been a greater need for human connection. We aim to take theatre back to the people through 'date night' pricing - not as a one off offer, but ONE price for everyone. The best seats are no longer for the privileged but for the passionate.

Theatre for All

Public

The journey starts with affordable Saturday schools for children and outreach projects which feed into our Post 16 Trainee program. The course will provide tangible and practical skills based on theatre production, TIE and public performances - not writing about the process, actually DOING.

We are keen to make a difference. We would love you to join us.

Our Origins

Adrian, our Founder and Creative Director, spent most his life either studying or teaching theatre. After 40 years as an audience member, 6 years as a Drama student, and 20 years as a teacher, examiner and parent, he become increasingly concerned about the barriers to both training, working in and attending the theatre.

We believe the way forward requires a radical rethink about how we train, produce and experience live theatre. This requires broader thinking than bursaries or discounted tickets for the few. We need to make theatre accessible and sustainable for everyone... including those who want to forge a career that isn't at the mercy of the 'gig economy'.

If you're a likeminded individual and you want to help make a change then we'd love to hear from you.
